Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive, exfoliating treatment that manually removes dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the face. Before the treatment, your Beauty Therapist will use a gentle cleanser on your skin to remove any oil, bacteria, and dirt. This treatment removes the top layer of dead skin and cells leaving the skin surface smooth and revealing new and brighter skin. Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. We often use dermaplaning to help prepare skin for more intrusive procedures such as Microneedling treatments and Chemical Peels.

We do not offer Dermaplaning as a stand-alone treatment unless it’s purchased in a series otherwise it is included in our Bespoke Lifestyle or Advanced Facial Treatments.

DOES DERMAPLANING HURT?

Dermaplaning is a completely painless treatment! Although it involves the use of a scalpel, an incision is never made; the scalpel delicately glides just above the outermost layer of skin, removing any facial hair and dead skin cells in its path.

WILL THE VELLUS HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?

No. It is physiologically impossible for vellus hair, also known as peach-fuzz, to grow back thicker or darker. Vellus hair, when cut or removed, will grow back the same, as the structure of the hair is not damaged or changed.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure that will feel like shaving but with a lighter touch. There are no side effects and zero downtime.

• First, your Beauty Therapist will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. 

• Next, we pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, hold a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45-degree angle in the other hand, and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

• After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?

The results of Dermaplaning are immediate!

You’ll notice your skin is brighter, smoother, and glowing! The vellus hair usually grows back within four to six weeks.
